Hope Through Action, together with its partner SCORE, leads the Western Cape Education Department’s @HomeLearning programme. Since launching in 2020, the programme has grown steadily and now supports 7,920 at-risk primary school learners, helping them stay in school and feel supported to succeed.

At the same time, the programme creates meaningful opportunities for unemployed young people. Through paid internships and training, @HomeLearning YeBoneers build strong near-peer relationships with learners, offering encouragement, guidance and positive role models.

2026 saw the rollout to additional communities across the Western Cape.
Hope Through Action, in collaboration with 15 NGO partners, is now working with 660 YeBoneers to support learners from more than 80 schools.

Mentors were trained and placed early in the year and by November, most YeBoneers move on to further employment or additional study, equipped with valuable life skills.
