Celebrating our youth stepping proudly into the future!
On 28 November 2025, we proudly celebrated the graduation of 240 of our incredible interns, known as YeBoneers, after a 10-month journey of service, growth, learning, challenge, and unforgettable memories! These YeBoneers have been participating in 3 different program streams, with support from our partners YearBeyond:
WCED @HomeLearning – focused on children referred by schools for additional support, mainly due to disengagement, challenges at home and being at risk of dropping out.
Catch-Up – focused on school children in Grades 3 and 4, supporting them in language learning and numeracy at the crucial point when schools switch from mother tongue instruction to English or Afrikaans as the medium of instruction.
Little Explorers – focused on children at Early Learning Centres – storytelling and reading, fun games, phonics learning and movement
Guided by Mentors, they worked 4 days a week in the community with learners and every Friday received extensive personal and professional capacity building, preparing them for their next step – further study or employment. And last Friday they finally closed that chapter and are now ready for their year beyond!
Graduating from the Franschhoek Valley Community Sport Centre (FVCSC) we had 75 YeBoneers who worked across the Valley in all 3 streams and 17 YeBoneers who worked for @HomeLearning across the Kylemore, Pniel & Simondium area as part of FVCSC’s outreach.
Graduating from the Mbekweni Community Sport Centre (MCSC) we had 55 YeBoneers who worked in the @HomeLearning and Catch-up Programs.
In Paarl East we celebrated the graduation of 23 @HomeLearning YeBoneers who have been part of our outreach to 6 schools in the area.
Meanwhile at the Swartland Community Sport Centre (SCSC) we celebrated the graduation of 70 YeBoneers across all 3 streams.
The celebrations were full of laughter, tears, shared memories – and a few nerves about the future… But the graduation messages were similar across the different hubs: CONGRATULATIONS! WELL DONE! You’ve shown grit and resilience. You’ve been determined to learn, build yourself and make this experience a success. You’ve served your community with passion and creativity, and you’ve become true role models. You’ve empowered yourselves – and YOU ARE READY for the next step!
Over 80% of YeBoneers successfully pathway into meaningful work or further studies. Our 2025 graduates have a bright future ahead of them.
